Lightbulb Brightness / gamma controls would really be nice.

Maybe this has been brought up before, but GW really needs in-game brightness or gamma controls. I have to set a custom level from my Display settings in Control Panel just for the game. It's too dark on my monitor (Viewsonic P225fb), and was too dark on the one before it (NEC FE991SB). Then I have to go back and readjust when I leave the game, because suitable brightness for Guild Wars makes my desktop unbearably bright to look at. Why can't something this commonplace be implemented into the game engine?

ABSOLUTELY! Mine is almost always too light and I would love to darken it to see more details. This would be a seemingly simple fix.

Brilliant!!!!

Give this person a rune or something.

Seriously it should be a technical requirement that all games should have gamma control.
I hate alt/tabbing to noodle a good picture.

I'd love a gamma & brightness adjustment as well. I'm also in the situation where I need to up the gamma & brightness on my desktop whenever I play GW, otherwise it's just too dark - especially in places like Catacombs or any darkened caves.

Heh, trying to find my way through the troll caves in the northern shiverpeaks mines... get to the end and my screen without any adjustment is pitch black.. and means I need to spin around and walk and hope to get to the opening

The problem is probably your CRT monitor which traditionally has factory gamma set too low.

What video card are you using? ATI and nVidia software allow you to specify separate brightness for desktop and games. So you should be able to set the brightness accordingly.

GW works perfectly with my ATI card/software unlike some other games like Half Life 2 where I need to tweak a little.

I can't adjust my monitor's contrast or brightness any more than what it's set at now.

My video card is a 6800GT. It died last week, so I'm using an old TI4800SE until the RMA goes through. Same issue with it. 2 different cards, 3 different monitors (I also had a 22" NEC which I sold to get the Viewsonic), no difference.

I have created custom color profiles in the Nvidia applet for regular use and for Guild Wars. The issue is that I shouldn't have to. In-game adjustments would mean that I set them once and forget about it, instead of loading a profile every time I start / stop playing the game.
